WHAT WILL HAPPEN?
Horse’s can benefit a great deal from Shiatsu, however before any programme of treatment can take place it is important that you get consent from your vet.
The first session consists of building a picture of the individual’s history, lifestyle and past & present health. This allows a detailed treatment plan to be developed that is designed specifically for your horse.
This is then followed by palpation (touch) over the body and limbs with gentle limb rotations if appropriate to ascertain where any problems may be before addressing them accordingly.
The treatment itself can vary from animal to animal but will usually comprise of a variety of tissue release techniques, stretches and point work over the whole body rather than just the ‘problem’ area.
Often during the treatment the animal can exhibit signs of improved flow, comfort and relaxation by yawning, softening the eyes, licking, chewing, deeper breathing, sneezing and dropping the head.
On average a session will last between 40 – 60 minutes. Please allow at least an hour of your time.
The animal needs to be clean, dry and have access to a safe and secure area such as a stable, field shelter or quiet yard space for the duration of the treatment.
